Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Gaming devices and methods are set forth which provide for face or body tracking to provide a three-dimensional effect to at least a portion of the content displayed. A first display overlays at least a portion of a second display for an auto-stereo electronic display. The first display is adapted to be controlled to be transparent or display vertical barrier lines. The second display displays auto-stereo images of content in coordination with presentation of the vertical barrier lines, to provide a three dimensional effect based on the face or body tracking.

What is claimed is: 1. A gaming device configured to provide an electronic wagering game, the gaming device comprising: a processor; a camera; an auto-stereo electronic display including a first portion of a first display overlaying a second portion of a second display, wherein the first display is configured to have the first portion thereof changeable between a transparent condition and a barrier condition where the first portion of the first display can present spaced vertical barrier lines; and a memory storage device configured to store instructions, which when executed by the processor cause the gaming device to perform operations for presenting the electronic wagering game, the instructions including instructions to cause, during presentation of the electronic wagering game via the auto-stereo electronic display, the first portion of the first display to have the transparent condition; instructions to determine, based on first information obtained via the camera, changes to an approximate relative position of one or more of a head or eyes of a player relative to the auto-stereo electronic display during the presentation of the electronic wagering game; instructions to present, at the second portion of the second display, at least one image of content related to play of the electronic wagering game in a two-dimensional state; instructions to change, in response to an event associated with the electronic wagering game, the first portion of the first display from the transparent condition to the masked condition with the spaced vertical barrier lines presented at the first portion of the first display; instructions to present, according to the changes to the position of the one or more of the head or eyes of the player, auto-stereo images of the content at the second portion of the second display in coordination with presentation of the spaced vertical barrier lines at the first portion of the first display causing the auto-stereo images and the spaced vertical barrier lines to be positioned relative to each other to produce an auto-stereo three-dimensional state for the content; instructions to present a message requesting a player response related to the electronic wagering game; instructions to detect, based on second information from the camera, a gesture indicating the player response requested in the message; instructions to, in response to the gesture, take action associated with the electronic wagering game; instructions to present additional images indicating the action on the auto-stereo electronic display; instructions to automatically modify presentation of the auto-stereo images of the content in coordination with the spaced vertical barrier lines, the automatic modification based on changes in position of the content caused by spinning of a virtual reel of the electronic wagering game; and instructions to cause an auto-stereo three-dimensional depth for the content to one or more of increase or attenuate as the content moves with the spinning of the virtual reel. 2. The gaming device of claim 1 , wherein the camera operates on an infrared spectrum. 3. The gaming device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further include instructions to control a feature of the gaming device according to the changes to the approximate relative position of the one or more of the head or eyes of the player. 4. The gaming device of claim 1 , wherein the first display comprises a touch screen user interface. 5. The gaming device of claim 1 , wherein the content related to the play of the electronic wagering game includes one or game symbols, and wherein the instructions include instructions to change presentation of only a portion of the one or more game symbols at one or more second positions that coincide with the second portion of the second display from the two-dimensional state to the auto-stereo three-dimensional state. 6. The gaming device of claim 1 , wherein the instruction further include instructions to use the changes to the approximate relative position of the one or more of the head or eyes of the player as user input to control a feature of the electronic wagering game. 7. The gaming device of claim 6 , wherein the instructions further include instructions to determine the changes to the approximate relative position of the one or more of the head or eyes of the player and wherein the gesture is one or more of an upward motion relative to the auto-stereo electronic display, a downward motion relative to the electronic auto-stereo display, a motion toward the electronic auto-stereo display, and a motion away from the electronic auto-stereo display. 8. A method of operating a gaming system, the method comprising: presenting an electronic wagering game via an auto-stereo electronic display, wherein the auto-stereo electronic display includes a first display in a transparent condition overlaying a second display; determining, based on first information obtained from a camera of the gaming system, changes to a position of one or more of a head or eyes of a player relative to the auto-stereo electronic display during the presentation of the electronic wagering game; presenting, at a portion of the second display, content in a two-dimensional state, wherein the content is related to play of the electronic wagering game; in response to a game event, changing a portion of the first display, which overlays the portion of the second display, from the transparent condition to a barrier condition that presents spaced vertical barrier lines; presenting, according to the changes to the position of the one or more of the head or eyes of the player, auto-stereo images of the content at the portion of the second display in coordination with presentation of the spaced vertical barrier lines at the portion of the first display causing an auto-stereo three-dimensional state for the content; presenting a message requesting a player response related to the electronic wagering game; detecting, based on second information from the camera, a gesture indicating the player response related to the electronic wagering game; presenting, in response to the player response, additional images of the content on the auto-stereo electronic display; and automatically changing an auto-stereo three-dimensional depth for the content according to changes in the position of the content caused by spinning of a virtual reel for the electronic wagering game. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the content includes one or game symbols, and further comprising: changing presentation of only a portion of the one or more game symbols at the portion of the second display from the two-dimensional state to the auto-stereo three-dimensional state. 10. The method of claim 8 further comprising: controlling a feature of the electronic wagering game using, as user input, a gesture of the one or more of the head or eyes of the player. 11. The method of claim 10 wherein the gesture includes at least one of an upward motion relative to the electronic auto-stereo display, a downward motion relative to the electronic auto-stereo display, a motion toward the electronic auto-stereo display, or a motion away from the electronic auto-stereo display. 12. One or more non-transitory, machine-readable storage media having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by at least one of one or more electronic processors of a gaming system cause the gaming system to perform operations for presenting an electronic wagering game, the instructions comprising: instructions to present the electronic wagering game via an auto-stereo electronic display, wherein the auto-stereo electronic display includes a first dis
