The invention claimed is: 1. A washing method comprising: determining a quantity of laundry in a drum which is rotatably disposed in a tub about a substantially horizontal axis; operating a water supply unit to fill the tub with water; operating a motor, which is configured to rotate the drum, for a predetermined period time; and operating a pump to circulate water, along a circulation hose, from the tub to a nozzle which has an outlet opened toward an inside of the drum and is provided at an annular gasket coupled to an opening of the tub, wherein when the quantity of laundry is greater than a predetermined reference quantity, the method further comprises deactivating the motor, and the operating of the pump is initiated in response to the deactivating the motor such that the circulated water is sprayed through the nozzle while the drum is decelerated by the deactivating the motor, and wherein when the quantity of laundry is not greater than the reference quantity, the operating the pump is initiated while the motor is operated. 2. The washing method of claim 1 , wherein the operating the water supply unit is performed in response to a selection of a specific washing course through a course selection unit. 3. The washing method of claim 1 , wherein the nozzle comprises a plurality of nozzles, and the plurality of nozzles spray water simultaneously. 4. The washing method of claim 1 , wherein the nozzle is configured to upwardly spray water.
