First sensor data generated by a first of a plurality of sensors and at least second sensor data generated by at least a second of the plurality of sensors can be received by a sensor data broker executed by a processor. The sensor data broker can publish to at least a first virtual sensor the first sensor data as first published sensor data. The sensor data broker can publish to at least a second virtual sensor the second sensor data as second published sensor data.

What is claimed is: 1. A method comprising: receiving, by a sensor data broker executed by a processor, first sensor data generated by a first of a plurality of sensors and at least second sensor data generated by at least a second of the plurality of sensors; publishing, by the sensor data broker, to at least a first virtual sensor the first physical sensor data as first published sensor data; publishing, by the sensor data broker, to at least a second virtual sensor the second physical sensor data as second published sensor data; performing error detection on the first published sensor data by comparing the first published sensor data to similar sensor data deriving from different sensors that detect the similar sensor data in a same environment condition; and responsive to detecting at least one anomaly in the first published sensor data, communicating an alert to the first virtual sensor, the alert indicating the at least one anomaly in the first published sensor data. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the first virtual sensor generates third published sensor data by processing the first published sensor data and publishes the third published sensor data to at least a first virtual sensor data broker; and the second virtual sensor generates fourth published sensor data by processing the second published sensor data and publishes the fourth published sensor data to the first virtual sensor data broker or a second virtual sensor data broker. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: detecting, by a third sensor, a fault condition for the first sensor in which the first sensor becomes faulty or inoperative; and responsive to the third sensor detecting the fault condition of the first sensor in which the first sensor becomes faulty or inoperative, the third sensor communicating to the sensor data broker third sensor data representing values or changes in physical quantities that are same as values or changes in physical quantities represented by the first sensor data. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the first virtual sensor generates third published sensor data by processing the first published sensor data and publishes the third published sensor data to at least a first virtual sensor data broker; the first virtual sensor further subscribes to fourth published sensor data; and responsive to the first virtual sensor failing to receive the first published sensor data, the first virtual sensor generates the third published sensor data by processing the fourth published sensor data and publishes the third published sensor data to at least the first virtual sensor data broker. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the first virtual sensor merges at least a portion of the first published sensor data and at least a portion of third published sensor data and publishes merged published sensor data as fourth published sensor data in a manner that makes the fourth published sensor data appear to be generated by a single sensor. 6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: publishing, by the sensor data broker, to the first virtual sensor the second physical sensor data as the second published sensor data; wherein the first virtual sensor merges at least a portion of the first published sensor data and at least a portion of the second published sensor data and publishes the merged published sensor data to a virtual sensor data broker as third published sensor data, the virtual sensor data broker re-publishing the third published sensor data to a third virtual sensor as fourth published sensor data. 7. A system, comprising: a processor programmed to initiate executable operations comprising: receiving, by a sensor data broker, first sensor data generated by a first of a plurality of sensors and at least second sensor data generated by at least a second of the plurality of sensors; publishing, by the sensor data broker, to at least a first virtual sensor the first physical sensor data as first published sensor data; publishing, by the sensor data broker, to at least a second virtual sensor the second physical sensor data as second published sensor data; performing error detection on the first published sensor data by comparing the first published sensor data to similar sensor data deriving from different sensors that detect the similar sensor data in a same environment condition; and responsive to detecting at least one anomaly in the first published sensor data, communicating an alert to the first virtual sensor, the alert indicating the at least one anomaly in the first published sensor data. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein: the first virtual sensor generates third published sensor data by processing the first published sensor data and publishes the third published sensor data to at least a first virtual sensor data broker; and the second virtual sensor generates fourth published sensor data by processing the second published sensor data and publishes the fourth published sensor data to the first virtual sensor data broker or a second virtual sensor data broker. 9. The system of claim 7 , the executable operations further comprising: detecting, by a third sensor, a fault condition for the first sensor in which the first sensor becomes faulty or inoperative; and responsive to the third sensor detecting the fault condition of the first sensor in which the first sensor becomes faulty or inoperative, the third sensor communicating to the sensor data broker third sensor data representing values or changes in physical quantities that are same as values or changes in physical quantities represented by the first sensor data. 10. The system of claim 7 , wherein: the first virtual sensor generates third published sensor data by processing the first published sensor data and publishes the third published sensor data to at least a first virtual sensor data broker; the first virtual sensor further subscribes to fourth published sensor data; and responsive to the first virtual sensor failing to receive the first published sensor data, the first virtual sensor generates the third published sensor data by processing the fourth published sensor data and publishes the third published sensor data to at least the first virtual sensor data broker. 11. The system of claim 7 , wherein: the first virtual sensor merges at least a portion of the first published sensor data and at least a portion of third published sensor data and publishes merged published sensor data as fourth published sensor data in a manner that makes the fourth published sensor data appear to be generated by a single sensor. 12. The system of claim 7 , the executable operations further comprising: publishing, by the sensor data broker, to the first virtual sensor the second physical sensor data as the second published sensor data; wherein the first virtual sensor merges at least a portion of the first published sensor data and at least a portion of the second published sensor data and publishes the merged published sensor data to a virtual sensor data broker as third published sensor data, the virtual sensor data broker re-publishing the third published sensor data to a third virtual sensor as fourth published sensor data. 13. A computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program code stored thereon, the program code executable by a processor to perform a method comprising: receiving, by a sensor data broker executed by the processor, first sensor data generated by a first of a plurality of sensors and at least second sensor data generated by at least a second of the plurality of sensors; publishing, by the sensor data broker, to a
