Official abstract text for this publication.
A control unit of a lawn mower performs switching control for switching operation between a first control mode and a second mode. In the first control mode, during rotation of an engine at a first reference rotation speed, in the case where a change amount of rotation speed of the engine per unit time has exceeded a reference speed change amount, the rotation speed is maintained at a second reference rotation speed, and an flap angle is increased. In the second control mode, during rotation of the engine at a second reference rotation speed, in the case where an opening angle of a throttle valve has fallen below a reference opening angle, the rotation speed is maintained at the first reference rotation speed, and the flap angle is decreased. The second reference rotation speed is higher than the first reference rotation speed.

What is claimed is: 1. A lawn mower comprising: a cutter blade rotatable about a rotation shaft extending in a vertical direction; an engine configured to drive the cutter blade through the rotation shaft; a throttle valve provided for the engine; a flap provided for the cutter blade, the flap having a flap angle changeable along a horizontal line which is perpendicular to the rotation shaft; an actuator configured to control the flap angle of the flap; a control unit configured to control the actuator; an engine speed detection unit configured to detect a rotation speed of the engine; and a throttle opening angle detection unit configured to detect an opening angle of the throttle valve; wherein the engine has reference rotation speeds set to a predetermined first reference rotation speed and a predetermined second reference rotation speed which is higher than the first reference rotation speed by a predetermined speed; the control unit is configured to control the rotation speed of the engine and the flap angle of the flap by switching operation between a first control mode and a second control mode; in the first control mode, during rotation of the engine at the first reference rotation speed, in a case in which it is determined that a change amount per predetermined time, of the rotation speed of the engine detected by the engine speed detection unit has exceeded a predetermined reference speed change amount, control is implemented in a manner that the rotation speed of the engine is maintained at the second reference rotation speed, and the actuator is controlled to increase the flap angle of the flap; and in the second control mode, during rotation of the engine at the second reference rotation speed, in a case in which it is determined that the opening angle of the throttle valve detected by the throttle opening angle detection unit has fallen below a predetermined reference opening angle, control is implemented in a manner that the rotation speed of the engine is maintained at the first reference rotation speed, and the actuator is controlled to decrease the flap angle of the flap. 2. The lawn mower according to claim 1 , wherein, in the second control mode, during rotation of the engine at the second reference rotation speed, in the case in which it is determined that the opening angle of the throttle valve detected by the throttle opening angle detection unit has fallen below the reference opening angle, after it is determined that the change amount per predetermined time, of the rotation speed of the engine detected by the engine speed detection unit does not exceed the predetermined reference speed change amount, control is implemented to maintain the rotation speed of the engine at the first reference rotation speed, and the actuator is controlled to decrease the flap angle of the flap. 3. The lawn mower according to claim 1 wherein, when control is implemented to keep the rotation speed of the engine constant, the control unit is configured to keep the rotation speed of the engine constant by increasing the opening angle of the throttle valve and controlling the actuator to increase the flap angle of the flap, as a load on the engine gets larger. 4. The lawn mower according to claim 1 , further comprising a travel speed detection unit configured to detect a travel speed of the lawn mower, wherein in a case in which it is determined that the travel speed of the lawn mower detected by the travel speed detection unit has exceeded the predetermined reference speed, the control unit is configured to control the actuator to decrease the flap angle of the flap. 5. The lawn mower according to claim 4 , wherein, in a case in which it is determined one of a first condition and a second condition is satisfied, the control unit is configured to maintain the rotation speed of the engine at the first reference rotation speed; the first condition is a condition where the travel speed of the lawn mower detected by the travel speed detection unit is below a predetermined reference speed at time of starting travel movement; and the second condition is a condition where the travel speed of the lawn mower detected by the travel speed detection unit exceeds the reference speed at the time of starting travel movement, and the change amount per predetermined time, of the rotation speed of the engine detected by the engine speed detection unit does not exceed the predetermined reference speed change amount at the time of starting travel movement.
