Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A wireless device is enabled to process a transaction. In one implementation, the wireless device receives card data for a plurality of financial account cards and stores the card data in memory associated with the wireless device. The wireless device determines merchant information for the transaction and determines rewards benefit information for at least some of the plurality of financial account cards. The wireless device provides a suggestion of at least one of the plurality of financial account cards to use in the transaction based on the determined rewards benefit information.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for enabling a wireless device, associated with a user, to automatically identify card data for use during a transaction at a merchant system, the method comprising: determining, by one or more processors of the wireless device, merchant information for the transaction, the merchant information comprising a merchant category based at least in part on a current location of the wireless device; determining, by the one or more processors, based on card data stored on the wireless device for a plurality of financial account cards, rewards benefit information for at least some of the financial account cards, the rewards benefit information comprising a basis for acquiring reward points based at least in part on the merchant information; automatically determining, by the one or more processors, a financial account card to use in the transaction, based at least in part on the merchant category and rewards benefit information; and communicating, to the merchant system via the wireless device, card data of the determined financial account card. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the rewards benefit information includes reward redemption information and the determination of the financial account card is based at least in part on the reward redemption information. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a user preference related to a financial account card and wherein the determination of a financial account card is based at least in part on the user preference. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the user preference includes a preference to use one of the plurality of financial account cards based on reward acquisition information associated with the plurality of financial account cards. 5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the user preference includes a preference to use one of the plurality of financial account cards based on reward redemption information associated with the plurality of financial account cards. 6. The method of claim 3 , wherein the user preference includes a preference to use one of the plurality of financial cards based on a merchant type. 7. A wireless device, associated with a user, for automatically identifying card data for use during a transaction at a merchant system, comprising: one or more processors; and a memory having instructions that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations of: determining merchant information for the transaction, the merchant information comprising a merchant category based at least in part on a current location of the wireless device; determining, based on card data stored on the wireless device for a financial account cards, rewards benefit information for at least some of the financial account cards, the rewards benefit information comprising a basis for acquiring reward points based at least in part on the merchant information; and automatically determining a financial account card, based at least in part on the merchant category and rewards benefit information; and communicating, to the merchant system via the wireless device, card data of the determined financial account card. 8. The wireless device of claim 7 , wherein the rewards benefit information includes reward redemption information and the determination of the financial account card is based at least in part on the reward redemption information. 9. The wireless device of claim 7 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to perform an operation of receiving a user preference related to a financial account card and wherein the determination of the financial account card is based at least in part on the user preference. 10. The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the user preference includes a preference to use one of the plurality of financial account cards based on reward acquisition information associated with the plurality of financial account cards. 11. The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the user preference includes a preference to use one of the plurality of financial account cards based on reward redemption information associated with the plurality of financial account cards. 12. The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the user preference includes a preference to use one of the plurality of financial account cards based on a merchant type. 13. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a wireless device associated with a user, causes the one or more processors to automatically identify card data for use during a transaction at a merchant system by performing operations comprising: determining merchant information for the transaction, the merchant information comprising a merchant category based at least in part on a current location of the wireless device; determining, based on card data stored on the wireless device for a plurality of financial account cards, rewards benefit information for at least some of the financial account cards, the rewards benefit information comprising a basis for acquiring reward points based at least in part on the merchant information; automatically determining a financial account card to use in the transaction, based at least in part on the determined merchant category and rewards benefit information; and communicating, to the merchant system via the wireless device, card data of the determined financial account card. 14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the rewards benefit information includes reward redemption information and the determination of the financial account card is based at least in part on the reward redemption information. 15. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving a user preference related to a financial account card and wherein the determination of the financial account card is based at least in part on the user preference.
