Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system for limiting the flow from a dispensing valve when a dispensing cartridge is replaced with the system including a dispenser cartridge with a cam and a water socket with a flow limiter therein that is activeable in response to the position of the dispenser cartridge in the dispensing valve and operable in response to an upstream fluid pressure in the dispensing valve.

First claim

We claim: 1. A dispensing valve converter for installation in a dispenser cartridge compartment of a dispensing valve comprising; a hub; a peripheral edge on said hub, said peripheral edge on said hub includes a set of radial fins integral to said hub, said radial fins are cantilevered from said hub; a first socket on a first side of said converter for engaging a first socket in a first dispenser cartridge; a second socket an opposite side of said converter for engaging a first socket of the dispensing valve; an end cap extending between said first socket and said second socket of said converter; a flow limiter located in said end cap for inhibiting fluid flow through the end cap when the flow limiter is in a first position and for allowing fluid flow through the end cap when the flow limiter is held in a second position, wherein the flow limiter includes a stem with a flange on one end and a head on the other end, said flow limiter axially slideable with respect to said end cap. 2. The dispensing valve converter of claim 1 wherein a face of the peripheral edge is located at an acute angle with respect to a plane extending through the peripheral edge. 3. The dispensing valve converter of claim 1 wherein the first socket and the second socket on the converter share an end cap. 4. The dispensing valve converter of claim 1 including a third socket on the converter and a fourth socket on the converter including an end cap on the third socket shared with the fourth socket, said end cap on the third socket including a flow limiter having a stem extending through the end cap of the third socket with the stem axially displaceable with respect to the end cap of the third socket. 5. The dispensing valve converter of claim 4 wherein a first sidewall of a second dispensing valve socket is mateable through frictional engagement with a sidewall of the fourth socket of said converter. 6. The dispensing valve converter of claim 1 including an angled edge on said set of radial fins. 7. A swimming pool converter for insertion into a dispensing system comprising: a hub; a plurality of radial fins extending radially outward from said hub with said radial fins having a frictional peripheral edge for engaging a sidewall of a dispensing valve to inhibit removal therefrom; a first socket having a friction surface for engaging a first socket of the dispensing valve and a second socket for frictionally engaging a first dispensing cartridge; a first web extending across said first socket with said first web having a fluid port; a first canister deactiveable valve with said deactiveable valve responsive to fluid pressure when in an activated condition, said deactiveable valve located in said first web with said deactiveable valve having a flange engageable with the first web to inhibit or prevent fluid flow through the first web in response to upstream fluid pressure; a third socket having a friction surface for engaging a second socket of the dispensing valve and a fourth socket for frictionally engaging the dispensing cartridge; a second web extending across said second socket with said second web having a fluid port; and a second canister deactiveable valve with said second canister deactiveable valve responsive to fluid pressure when in an activated condition, said second canister dcactiveable valve located in said second web with said second canister deactiveable valve having a flange engageable with the second web to inhibit or prevent fluid flow through the second web in response to upstream fluid pressure.
