Methods of treating heart failure include administering to a subject having heart failure an effective amount of a triazole compound that is an agonist of the APJ receptor, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound, or a mixture thereof. Compounds particularly useful in such methods are provided herein.

What is claimed: 1. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (1R,2S)—N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(6-methoxy-2-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1-methoxy-1-(5-methyl-2-pyrimidinyl)-2-propanesulfonamide. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. 4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (2S,3R)—N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(5-methyl-3-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-3-(5-methyl-2-pyrimidinyl)-2-butanesulfonamide. 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. 7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (1R,2S)—N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(5-methyl-3-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1-methoxy-1-(5-methyl-2-pyrimidinyl)-2-propanesulfonamide. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. 10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (1R,2S)—N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(5-methyl-3-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1-hydroxy-1-(5-methyl-2-pyrimidinyl)-2-propanesulfonamide. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. 13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (1S,2R)-1-(5-chloro-2-pyrimidinyl)-N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(5-methyl-3-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1-methoxy-2-propanesulfonamide. 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. 16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 17. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (1S,2R)—N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(5-methyl-3-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1-methoxy-1-(5-methyl-2-pyrazinyl)-2-propanesulfonamide. 18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. 19. The method of claim 17 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 20. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (1R,2S)—N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(5-methyl-3-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1-hydroxy-1-(5-methyl-2-pyrazinyl)-2-propanesulfonamide. 21. The method of claim 20 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. 22. The method of claim 20 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 23. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (1R,2S)—N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(3-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1-methoxy-1-(5-methyl-2-pyrimidinyl)-2-propanesulfonamide. 24. The method of claim 23 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. 25. The method of claim 23 , wherein the heart failure is heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 26. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is (2S,3R)—N-(4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(3-pyridinyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-3-(5-methyl-2-pyrimidinyl)-2-butanesulfonamide. 27.
