Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Information associated with a communication is gathered at a switching point during the routing process to determine subscriber metric information associated with an active service identifier. The information relates to the originator of the communication and the target. The information is compared to a provider database to determine a carrier originally associated with the active service identifier. The information is then compared to a porting database to determine if the active service identifier was ported, and if so, to which carrier the active service identifier was ported. A determination can then be made regarding which carrier is associated with the active service identifier. The data may be aggregated for a large amount of switched communications, representing a large amount of active service identifiers for a given market. Thus, a number of subscribers for a given carrier in a given market may be determined.

What is claimed is: 1. An apparatus comprising: a processor; and memory coupled to the processor, the memory comprising executable instructions that cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising: determining service identifiers of a plurality of records, the plurality of records being associated with a switching point in a network; comparing the service identifiers of at least two of the plurality of records; determining, based on the comparing, whether at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated; and based on determining that the at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated, changing a record indicative of a status of the at least one of the service identifiers. 2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein determining that the at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated is based on at least determining that the at least one of the service identifiers is absent from at least a present record of the plurality of records. 3. The apparatus of claim 2 , the operations further comprising: determining a subscriber associated with the at least one of the service identifiers. 4. The apparatus of claim 2 , the operations further comprising: determining a carrier associated with the at least one of the service identifiers. 5. The apparatus of claim 1 , the operations further comprising: determining, based on the comparing, a number of the service identifiers that have been at least one of activated or deactivated. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 , the operations further comprising: identifying inactivity associated with the at least one of service identifiers, wherein determining the at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated is based on at least the inactivity lasting for at least a period of time. 7. The apparatus of claim 6 , the operations further comprising: identifying an activity trend associated with the at least one of the service identifiers, wherein the period of time is based on at least the activity trend. 8. The apparatus of claim 7 , further comprising: determining that the at least one service identifier was classified as deactivated at a first time; determining that at least one of the plurality of records comprises the at least one service identifier; and based on the at least one plurality of records being associated with a second time period after the first time, indicating that the at least one service identifier was not deactivated. 9. The apparatus of claim 8 , further comprising: correcting the activity trend associated with the at least one service identifier to increase a size of the period of time of inactivity. 10. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the activity trend is indicative of an average number of calls for a period of time. 11. A method comprising: determining service identifiers of a plurality of records, the plurality of records being associated with a switching point in a network; comparing the service identifiers of at least two of the plurality of records; determining, based on the comparing, whether at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated; and based on determining that the at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated, changing a record indicative of a status of the at least one of the service identifiers. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein determining that the at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated is based on at least the at least one of the service identifiers being absent from a least a present record of the plurality of records. 13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising: determining a subscriber associated with each of the at least one of the service identifiers. 14. The method of claim 12 , further comprising: determining a carrier associated with each of the at least one of the service identifiers that have been at least one of deactivated or activated service. 15. The method of claim 11 , further comprising: determining, based on the comparing, a number of the service identifiers that have been at least one of activated or deactivated. 16. The method of claim 11 , further comprising: determining, based on the comparing, that a plurality of the service identifiers have been deactivated; determining a carrier associated with each of the plurality of deactivated service identifiers; determining a number of the deactivated service identifiers associated with each determined carrier; and reducing a number of active service identifiers associated with each determined carrier by the number of the deactivated service identifiers, respectively, for each determined carrier. 17. The method of claim 11 , further comprising: determining, based on the comparing, that a plurality of service identifiers have been activated; determining a carrier associated with each of the plurality of the activated service identifiers; determining a number of the activated service identifiers associated with each determined carrier; and increasing a number of active service identifiers associated with each determined carrier by the number of activated service identifiers, respectively, for each determined carrier. 18. The method of claim 11 , further comprising: determining, based on the comparing, that a plurality of the service identifiers have been deactivated; determining a subscriber associated with each of the plurality of deactivated service identifiers; determining a number of the deactivated service identifiers associated with each determined subscriber; and reducing a number of active service identifiers associated with each determined subscriber by the number of deactivated service identifiers, respectively, for each determined subscriber. 19. The method of claim 11 , further comprising: determining, based on the comparing, that a plurality of service identifiers have been activated; determining a subscriber associated with each of the plurality of activated service identifiers; determining a number of the activated service identifiers associated with each determined subscriber; and increasing a number of active service identifiers associated with each determined subscriber by the number of the activated service identifiers, respectively, for each determined subscriber. 20. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that is not a propagating signal, the computer-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions that cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising: determining service identifiers of a plurality of records, the plurality of records being associated with a switching point in a network; comparing the service identifiers of at least two of the plurality of records; determining, based on the comparing, whether at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated; and based on determining that the at least one of the service identifiers has been deactivated or activated, changing a record indicative of a status of the at least one of the service identifiers.
