Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A powder container is insertable in an image forming apparatus, and includes a main-body interlocking portion that is rotatable and protrudes toward an upstream side in an insertion direction in which the powder container is inserted, the image forming apparatus including an identifier protrusion that protrudes toward the upstream side in the insertion direction to identify a type of the powder container. The powder container includes a container interlocking portion configured to interlock with the main-body interlocking portion; and an interlocked portion configured to interlock with the identifier protrusion. The interlocked portion is provided in a front end of the powder container in the insertion direction. The container interlocking portion stands outward from an outer circumference of the powder container. The container interlocking portion and the interlocked portion are rotated integrally.

The invention claimed is: 1. A powder container for use with an image forming apparatus, the image forming apparatus including a first driving protrusion that is rotatable and protrudes toward an upstream side in an insertion direction in which the powder container is inserted, the image forming apparatus including a second protrusion that protrudes toward the upstream side in the insertion direction to identify a type of the powder container, the powder container comprising: a transmitted part configured to contact the first driving protrusion; and an opening into which the second protrusion is to be inserted, wherein the opening is provided in a front end of the powder container in the insertion direction, the transmitted part stands outward from an outer circumference of the powder container, the transmitted part and the opening are rotated integrally. 2. The powder container according to claim 1 , further comprising a guide that guides the first driving protrusion so that the first driving protrusion contacts the transmitted part. 3. The powder container according to claim 1 , wherein a plurality of transmitted parts are provided, and a plurality of opening groups, each having same arrangement of a plurality of openings, are provided, the number of opening groups being the same as the number of transmitted parts. 4. The powder container according to claim 1 , wherein a plurality of transmitted parts are provided and contact two first driving protrusions of the image forming apparatus at respective positions at intervals of 180 degrees in the rotation direction to receive rotation drive. 5. The powder container according to claim 1 , wherein a plurality of openings are provided, and the openings are provided at respective positions having different distances from a rotation axis of the transmitted part and the openings in a radial direction. 6. The powder container according to claim 1 , wherein a plurality of transmitted parts are provided, and one of the transmitted parts is connected to another transmitted part by an inclined surface, the another transmitted part being adjacent to the one of the transmitted parts in a circumferential direction. 7. The powder container according to claim 1 , wherein a discharge port that discharges powder stored in the powder container is provided in the vicinity of a rotation axis of the transmitted part and the opening in a plane perpendicular to the rotation axis. 8. The powder container according to claim 1 , wherein the powder container stores therein toner as the powder. 9. An image forming apparatus comprising: an image forming unit that forms an image on an image bearer by using powder for image formation; a powder conveying unit that conveys the powder to the image forming unit; and a powder container according to claim 1 , the powder container being removably held by the powder conveying unit. 10. A powder container for use in an image forming apparatus comprising: a transmitted part configured to contact a first driving protrusion of the image forming apparatus, the first driving protrusion being rotatable and protruding toward an upstream side in an insertion direction in which the powder container is inserted; and an opening into which a second protrusion of the image forming apparatus is to be inserted, the second protrusion protruding toward the upstream side in the insertion direction to identify a type of the powder container, wherein the opening is provided in a front end of the powder container in the insertion direction, the transmitted part stands outward from an outer circumference of the powder container, and the transmitted part and the opening are rotated integrally. 11. The powder container according to claim 10 , further comprising a guide that guides the first driving protrusion so that the first driving protrusion contacts the transmitted part. 12. The powder container according to claim 10 , wherein a plurality of transmitted parts are provided, and a plurality of opening groups, each having same arrangement of a plurality of openings, are provided, the number of opening groups being the same as the number of transmitted parts. 13. The powder container according to claim 10 , wherein a plurality of transmitted parts are provided and contact two first driving protrusions of the image forming apparatus at respective positions at intervals of 180 degrees in the rotation direction to receive rotation drive. 14. The powder container according to claim 10 , wherein a plurality of openings are provided, and the openings are provided at respective positions having different distances from a rotation axis of the transmitted part and the openings in a radial direction. 15. The powder container according to claim 10 , wherein a plurality of transmitted parts are provided, and one of the transmitted parts is connected to another transmitted part by an inclined surface, the another transmitted part being adjacent to the one of the transmitted parts in a circumferential direction. 16. The powder container according to claim 10 , wherein a discharge port that discharges powder stored in the powder container is provided in the vicinity of a rotation axis of the transmitted part and the opening in a plane perpendicular to the rotation axis. 17. The powder container according to claim 16 , wherein the opening is provided so as to surround the discharge port. 18. The powder container according to claim 10 , wherein the powder container stores therein toner as the powder. 19. An image forming apparatus comprising: an image forming unit that forms an image on an image bearer by using powder for image formation; a powder conveying unit that conveys the powder to the image forming unit; and a powder container according to claim 10 , the powder container being removably held by the powder conveying unit. 20.
