The present disclosure is drawn to a magenta pigment blend, a magenta ink, and a method of formulation a magenta pigment blend. The magenta pigment blend can be a first pigment including a solid solution of Pigment Violet 19 and Pigment Red 122, or Pigment Red 282; and a second pigment including Pigment Red 150. The weight ratio of the first pigment to the second pigment can be from 50:50 to 80:20 by pigment solids content.

What is claimed is: 1. A magenta ink, comprising: a liquid vehicle including water, organic co-solvent, and surfactant; and from 2 wt % to 9 wt % of a magenta pigment blend suspended therein, said magenta pigment blend comprising: quinacridone pigment having the general formula: wherein R 1 and R 2 are each independently H, a halogen atom, or a C 1 to C 4 alkyl group, and azo pigment having the general formula: wherein R a is H, aryl, or C 1 to C 4 alkyl, wherein when R a is aryl, the aryl is not a phenyl group having at least one hydrogen that has been substituted with a chlorine atom; wherein R b and R d are independently H, a C 1 to C 4 alkyl, an oxygen-containing functional group, a nitrogen-containing functional group, or a sulphur-containing functional group; wherein R c is H; and wherein the weight ratio of quinacridone pigment to the azo pigment is from 50:50 to 80:20 by pigment solids content. 2. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the quinacridone pigment comprises a solid solution of Pigment Violet 19 and Pigment Red 122, or the quinacridone pigment comprises Pigment Red 282. 3. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the azo pigment comprise Pigment Red 150. 4. The magenta ink of claim 1 , formulated as an inkjet ink. 5. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the surfactant comprises an acetylenic diol non-ionic surfactant, a polysorbate surfactant, or C 12 -C 18 polyoxyethylene glycol ether surfactant, a perfluoropolyether surfactant, or a combination thereof. 6. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the organic co-solvent comprises triethylene glycol, a cyclic amide, or a combination thereof. 7. The magenta ink of claim 6 , wherein the cyclic amide comprises 2-pyrrolidinone, di-(2-hydroxyethyl)-5,5-dimethylhydantoin, or mixture thereof. 8. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the ink is devoid of dye. 9. The magenta ink of claim 1 , further comprising from 0.1 wt % to 3 wt % polymeric binder. 10. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the quinacridone pigment and the azo pigment are both dispersed in a manner such that settling within the magenta ink over a period of 270 days is such that a weight ratio of quinacridone pigment to azo pigment anywhere within the ink is within ±3% compared to initial ratio measurements. 11. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the weight ratio of quinacridone pigment to the azo pigment is from 70:30 by pigment solids content. 12. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the quinacridone pigment consists of PR 282 and the azo pigment consists of PR 150. 13. The magenta ink of claim 1 , wherein the magenta pigment blend is present in the ink composition from 2 wt % to 4.2 wt %.
