Vaporizer devices and apparatuses are provided. In some implementations, a cartridge comprises a storage compartment holding a vaporizable material, a wick in contact with the vaporizable material, a heating element in contact with the wick, a first plate positioned proximate to a first side of the cartridge and coupled to the heating element, and a second plate positioned proximate to a second side of the cartridge and coupled to the heating element, the first side opposite the second side. The heating element is configured to heat the vaporizable material to generate an aerosol comprising particles having diameters of an average size of about one micron or less. The first plate and the second plate define a volume therebetween, and at least a portion of the heating element is positioned within the volume.
