A system including a first circuit substrate having conductive traces in layers of the first substrate, the first substrate having a first diamagnetic layer, a second circuit substrate having conductive traces in layers of the second substrate, the second substrate having a second diamagnetic layer, at least one manipulator residing adjacent one of the first and second diamagnetic layers, the manipulator being moveable across the first and second diamagnetic layers through magnetic fields generated by selected application of current to the conductive traces, and a controller coupled to the traces arranged to produce signals which result in the current being applied to the conductive traces.

What is claimed is: 1. A system, comprising: a first circuit substrate having layers of conductive trace lines, the first substrate having a first diamagnetic layer on a surface of the circuit substrate on an opposite side of the layers of conductive trace lines; a conductive layer different than the layers of conductive trace lines on a surface of the diamagnetic layer; a second circuit substrate having layers of conductive trace lines, the second substrate having a second diamagnetic layer; at least one manipulator residing adjacent one of the first and second diamagnetic layers, the manipulator being moveable across the first and second diamagnetic layers through magnetic fields generated by selected application of current to the conductive trace lines; and a controller coupled to the conductive trace lines arranged to produce signals which result in the current being applied to the conductive trace lines. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second circuit substrate is positioned adjacent the first circuit substrate in close proximity to allow the manipulator to move from one circuit substrate to the other. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first and second substrates are flex circuits. 4. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a flex circuit connecting the first substrate to the second substrate. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first substrate is stacked above the second substrate to form a three-dimensional array of substrates. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the three-dimensional array of substrates has more than two substrates. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first circuit substrate is positioned as a motherboard and the second circuit substrate attaches to the first circuit substrate.
