A battery electrode with a pasting textile, fabric, or scrim made with an electrode grid (e.g., a stamped grid or expanded metal grid) coated in battery electrode and covered with pasting textile formed of a bonded, non-woven fiber web. The web is formed from one or more fibers with an average length greater than 20 μm. In various embodiments, the web is formed from one or more spun, continuous fibers. The battery electrode may be made in a continuous process where multiple grids are formed in a single sheet, coated with electrode active material and the scrim before being cut into individual electrodes.

We claim: 1. A fiber scrim for a battery electrode comprising: a non-woven fiber web including one or more fibers of one or more thermoplastic resins; the one or more fibers of one or more thermoplastic resins comprising polyester including a PET homopolymer having a round cross section, a diameter of about 12 to 16 micrometers, and a denier of about 2.2; wherein the fiber scrim has a density of about 0.5 oz. per square yard and a thickness of about 4.3 mils. 2. The fiber scrim of claim 1 , wherein the fibers are spun, continuous fibers. 3. A battery electrode comprising: a grid having a perimeter; an active material provided on the grid; and a pasting textile provided on or into the active material, the pasting textile being comprised of a point-bonded microfiber; wherein the pasting textile has a density of about 0.5 oz. per square yard. 4. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the microfiber comprises polyester. 5. The battery electrode of claim 3 , further comprising a separator material. 6. The battery electrode of claim 5 , wherein the separator material is a glass mat. 7. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the microfiber includes a first end and a second end, wherein the first end of the microfiber is positioned substantially near the perimeter of the grid. 8. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the pasting textile is a non-woven fiber web. 9. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the microfiber has a diameter from about 10 μm to about 25 μm. 10. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the pasting textile has a thickness ranging from 0.06 mm to 5 mm. 11. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the pasting textile includes a fiber web including one or more fibers composed of one or more thermoplastic resins. 12. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the point-bonded microfiber is a continuous polyester microfiber. 13. The battery electrode of claim 12 , wherein the continuous polyester microfiber is a PET homopolymer. 14. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the pasting textile has a thickness of about 4.3 mils. 15. The battery electrode of claim 3 , wherein the point-bonded microfiber has a round cross section. 16. The battery electrode of claim 15 , wherein the point-bonded microfiber has a diameter of about 12 to 16 micrometers and a denier of about 2.2. 17. The fiber scrim of claim 1 , wherein the non-woven fiber web is point bonded. 18. The fiber scrim of claim 1 , wherein the non-woven fiber web is wet-laid. 19. An electrode having the fiber scrim of claim 1 .
