The present invention relates to antibodies capable of binding to the coagulation Factor XI and/or its activated form factor XIa and methods of use thereof, particularly methods of use as agents inhibiting platelet aggregation and by this inhibits thrombus formation.

A nucleic acid coding for an antibody capable of binding to coagulation Factor XIa comprising SEQ ID NO: 19 for the variable light chain domain and SEQ ID NO: 20 for the variable heavy chain domain. 2. A vector comprising the nucleic acid according to claim 1 . 3. A host cell comprising the vector of claim 2 . 4. A nucleic acid coding for an antibody capable of binding to coagulation Factor XIa comprising CDRH1 as SEQ ID NO: 21, CDRH2 as SEQ ID NO: 22, and CDRH3 as SEQ ID NO: 23; CDRL1 as SEQ ID NO: 24, CDRL2 as SEQ ID NO: 25, and CDRL3 as SEQ ID NO: 26. 5. A vector comprising the nucleic acid according to claim 4 . 6. A host cell comprising the vector of claim 5 . 7.
