A bonding washer for making electrical connection between two metal pieces that are to be mechanically fastened together. The washer, to be interposed between the two metal pieces, may be constructed so as to fasten to one of the pieces before the two pieces are joined. Teeth on the washer, positioned at right angles to the plane of the washer, are forced into each of the two metal pieces when the fastener is tightened, making electrical connection between the two metal pieces.

What is claimed is: 1. A bonding washer comprising: an electrically conductive body having: a first surface with at least one tooth having a distal end facing away from the first surface; a second surface with at least one tooth having a distal end facing away from the second surface; an opening through at least a portion of the body that facilitates the sliding the body past a fastener; and at least one spring clip that facilitates attaching the body to a metal object. 2. The bonding washer according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one spring clip comprises an edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab, wherein the tab is separated from the body and substantially parallel to either the first surface or the second surface. 3. The bonding washer according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one spring clip comprises a U-shaped member. 4. The bonding washer according to claim 1 , wherein the body has a first arm and a second arm, and wherein the opening is between the first arm and the second arm. 5. The bonding washer according to claim 4 , wherein the at least one spring clip comprises a first spring clip at an end of the first arm. 6. The bonding washer according to claim 5 , wherein the first spring clip comprises a bend at the end of the first arm and a tab extending from the bend, wherein the tab is separated from the body and substantially parallel to either the first surface or the second surface. 7. The bonding washer according to claim 4 , wherein the at least one spring clip comprises a second spring clip at an end of the second arm. 8. The bonding washer according to claim 7 , wherein the second spring clip comprises a bend at the end of the second arm and a tab extending from the bend, wherein the tab is separated from the body and substantially parallel to either the first surface or the second surface. 9. The bonding washer according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one tooth on the first surface comprises a plurality of teeth. 10. The bonding washer according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one tooth on the second surface comprises a plurality of teeth. 11. The bonding washer according to claim 1 , wherein the body is made of an electrically conductive metal. 12. A bonding washer comprising: an electrically conductive body having: a first surface with a plurality of teeth each having a distal end facing away from the first surface; a second surface with a plurality of teeth each having a distal end facing away from the second surface; a channel extending from an edge of the body into at least a portion of the body; and at least one edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab, wherein the tab is separated from the body and substantially parallel to either the first surface or the second surface. 13. The bonding washer according to claim 12 , wherein the at least one edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab comprises a spring clip. 14. The bonding washer according to claim 12 , wherein the at least one edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab comprises a U-shaped member. 15. The bonding washer according to claim 12 , wherein the at least one edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab comprises a first edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab and a second edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab. 16. The bonding washer according to claim 15 , wherein the first edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab comprises a first U-shaped member and the second edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab comprises a second U-shaped member. 17. The bonding washer according to claim 12 , wherein the body comprises a first arm coupled to a second arm, and wherein the channel is between the first arm and the second arm. 18. The bonding washer according to claim 12 , wherein the at least one edge of the body curved into a bend having a tab comprises an edge of the first arm and an edge of the second arm. 19. The bonding washer according to claim 12 , wherein the body is made of an electrically conductive metal. 20. A bonding washer comprising: an electrically conductive body having: a first arm having a first surface with at least one tooth extending from the first surface, wherein the at least one tooth has a distal end facing away from the first surface, a second surface with at least one tooth extending from the second surface, wherein the at least one tooth has a distal end facing away from the second surface, and a spring clip at an end of the first arm; a second arm having a first surface with at least one tooth extending from the first surface, wherein the at least one tooth has a distal end facing away from the first surface, a second surface with at least one tooth extending from the second surface, wherein the at least one tooth has a distal end facing away from the second surface, and a spring clip at an end of the second arm; and an opening between the first arm and the second arm. 21.
