What is claimed is: 1. A humanized 11E6 antibody that binds a pertussis toxin protein, comprising an immunoglobulin heavy chain variable region and an immunoglobulin light chain variable region, wherein the immunoglobulin heavy chain variable region comprises an amino acid sequence selected from SEQ ID NO:13, SEQ ID NO:14, SEQ ID NO:15, SEQ ID NO:16, SEQ ID NO:17, or SEQ ID NO:18; and the immunoglobulin light chain variable region comprises an amino acid sequence selected from SEQ ID NO:19, SEQ ID NO:20, SEQ ID NO:21, SEQ ID NO:22, SEQ ID NO:23, or SEQ ID NO:24. 2. The humanized 11E6 antibody of claim 1 , wherein the immunoglobulin heavy chain variable region comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:18 and the immunoglobulin light chain variable region comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:23. 3. The humanized 11E6 antibody of claim 1 , wherein the antibody binds the pertussis toxin protein with a K D of 12 nM or lower. 4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the humanized 11E6 antibody of claim 1 , and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
