Abstract

An apparatus is disclosed, including a first display and a second display and a controller operatively coupled to the first display and the second display, the controller configured to receive an input, identify a function associated with the input, present first information associated with a first function via the first display operatively coupled to the electronic device if the identified function is the first function, and present second information associated with a second function via the second display operatively coupled to the electronic device if the identified function is the second function.

First claim

What is claimed is:

1. A method of controlling an electronic device including a first display and a second display, comprising:
presenting first information associated with a first function via the first display operatively coupled to the electronic device;
receiving an input via the first display of the electronic device;
identifying a function associated with the input; and
presenting second information associated with a second function, different from the first function, via the second display operatively coupled to the electronic device if the identified function corresponds to the second function,
wherein the first function is a communication function and the second function is a multimedia function, and
wherein the second function is presented by turning off the first display and turning on the second display.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting the first information comprises turning off the second display.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
presenting a notification upon a change of a display between the first display and the second display.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first function comprises a phone function.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second function comprises at least one of a multimedia function, a text or image editing function, a camera function, an electronic book function, a television function, a virtual object function, a browser function, and a combination thereof.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first function comprises a first application and the second function comprises a second application.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting the second information comprises:
displaying at least one of a menu screen and an execution screen in relation with the second function.

8. An apparatus comprising:
a first display and a second display; and
a controller operatively coupled to the first display and the second display, the controller configured to:
present first information associated with a first function via the first display operatively coupled to the electronic device;
receive an input via the first display;
identify a function associated with the input; and
present second information associated with a second function, different from the first function, via the second display operatively coupled to the electronic device if the identified function corresponds to the second function,
wherein the first function is a communication function and the second function is a multimedia function, and
wherein the second function is presented by turning off the first display and turning on the second display.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
receive the input via at least one of the first display, the second display, a front input key, a rear input key, a side input key, and a combination thereof.

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
obtain a display characteristic corresponding to the first display and the second display.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the display characteristic comprises at least one of a display resolution, a display size, a display type, and a combination thereof.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , the controller is further configured to:
turn off the second display after a specified period of time upon the first information being presented via the first display.

13. The apparatus of claim 8 , the controller is further configured to:
turn off the first display after a specified period of time upon the second information being presented via the second display.

14. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the first function comprises a first application and the second function comprises a second application.

15. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the first display and the second display have at least one of a different size, a different resolution, and a different display type from each other.

16. An apparatus comprising:
a first display and a second display; and
a controller operatively coupled to the first and second displays, the controller configured to:
receive an input;
select at least one of the first display and the second display based at least in part on a determination that the input corresponds to a first function or a second function, different than the first function; and
present information associated with a corresponding one or more of the first function or the second function via the at least one display,
wherein the first function is a communication function and the second function is a multimedia function, and
wherein the second function is presented by turning off the first display and turning on the second display.

17. The apparatus of claim 16 , wherein controller is further configured to:
receive the input via at least one of a display, a touch pad, a input key, a touch key, and a combination thereof.

18. The apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
select the at least one display further based on a display characteristic of the first display and the second display.

19. A method of controlling an electronic device including a first display and a second display, comprising:
presenting first information associated with a first function via the first display operatively coupled to the electronic device;
receiving a touch input via the first display of the electronic device;
identifying a function associated with the touch input; and
presenting second information associated with a second function, different from the first function, via the second display operatively coupled to the electronic device if the identified function corresponds to the second function,
wherein the first function is a communication function and the second function is a multimedia function, and
wherein the second function is presented by turning off the first display and turning on the second display.

20. An apparatus comprising:
a first display and a second display; and
a controller operatively coupled to the first display and the second display, the controller configured to:
present first information associated with a first function via the first display operatively coupled to the electronic device;
receive a touch input via the first display;
identify a function associated with the touch input; and
present second information associated with a second function, different from the first function, via the second display operatively coupled to the electronic device if the identified function corresponds to the second function,
wherein the first function is a communication function and the second function is a multimedia function, and
wherein the second function is presented by turning off the first display and turning on the second display.
