What is claimed is: 1. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions, which when executed by one or more processors of an electronic device with a display and having one or more motion sensors, cause the device to: receive an indication of an event; in response to receiving the indication, provide an event notification; while providing the event notification, receive data, from the one or more motion sensors, representing movement of the electronic device and; in response to detecting movement of the electronic device: in accordance with a determination that the movement of the electronic device corresponds to movement of the electronic device satisfying a predetermined condition, wherein the predetermined condition includes a requirement that the electronic device is lifted to a lifted position and then remains in the lifted position for at least a minimum period of dwell time in order for the predetermined condition to be met, maintain the even notification while modifying the event notification; and in accordance with a determination that the movement of the device does not correspond to movement of the electronic device satisfying the predetermined condition, maintain the event notification without modifying the event notification. 2. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the electronic device is configured to wirelessly communicate with a cellular phone, and wherein the indication of the event is an indication of a call received at the cellular phone. 3. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the predetermined condition is based on an amount of lifting of the electronic device during a time interval, the amount of lifting determined from an accelerometer of the electronic device. 4. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 3 , wherein the predetermined condition is based on smoothness of a lifting of the electronic device during a time interval, the smoothness of the lifting determined from an accelerometer of the electronic device. 5. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the event notification is an audible notification. 6. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 5 , wherein modifying the event notification comprises attenuating a volume level of the audible notification. 7. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the event notification is a haptic notification. 8. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 7 , wherein modifying the event notification comprises attenuating motion of the haptic notification. 9. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the event notification is a visual notification. 10. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 9 , wherein modifying the event notification comprises attenuating an intensity of the visual notification. 11. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium further comprises instructions, which when executed by the electronic device, cause the electronic device to: in accordance with providing the event notification, provide the event notification while a display of the electronic device is inactive. 12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium further comprises instructions, which when executed by the electronic device, cause the electronic device to: in accordance with maintaining the event notification while modifying the event notification, maintain the event notification while activating the display of the electronic device. 13. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium further comprises instructions, which when executed by the electronic device, cause the electronic device to: in accordance with determining that the movement of the electronic device corresponds to movement of the electronic device satisfying the predetermined condition, determine whether the movement of the electronic device corresponds to activation of an input device of the electronic device; and in accordance with a determination that the user input corresponds to activation of the input device, maintain the event notification while modifying the event notification. 14. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the electronic device is configured to wirelessly communicate with a cellular phone, and wherein the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium further comprises instructions, which when executed by the electronic device, cause the electronic device to: in accordance with a determination that the movement of the electronic device corresponds to movement of the electronic device satisfying the predetermined condition, modify an event notification provided by the cellular phone. 15. A method, comprising: at an electronic device having one or more motion sensors: receiving an indication of an event; in response to receiving the indication, providing an event notification; while providing the event notification, receiving data, from the one or more motion sensors, representing movement of the electronic device; and in response to detecting movement of the electronic device: in accordance with a determination that the movement of the electronic device corresponds to movement of the electronic device satisfying a predetermined condition, wherein the predetermined condition includes a requirement that the electronic device is lifted to a lifted position and then remains in the lifted position for at least a minimum period of dwell time in order for the predetermined condition to be met, maintaining the event notification while modifying the event notification; and in accordance with a determination that the movement of the device does not correspond to movement of the electronic device satisfying the predetermined condition, maintaining the event notification without modifying the event notification. 16. An electronic device, comprising: a display, one or more processors; one or more motion sensors a memory; and one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for: receiving an indication of an event; in response to receiving the indication, providing an event notification; while providing the event notification, receiving data, from the one or more motion sensors, representing movement of the electronic device; and in response to detecting movement of the electronic device: in accordance with a determination that the movement of the electronic device corresponds to movement of the electronic device satisfying a predetermined condition, wherein the predetermined condition includes a requirement that the electronic device is lifted to a lifted position and then remains in the lifted position for at least a minimum period of dwell time in order for the predetermined condition to be met, maintaining the event notification while modifying the event notification; and in accordance with a determination that the movement of the device does not correspond to movement of the electroni
