Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Provided are azeotropic or azeotrope-like mixtures of 1,1,3,3-tetrachloroprop-1-ene (HCO-1230za) and hydrogen fluoride. Such compositions are useful as feed stock in the production of HFC-245fa and HCFO-1233zd.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A composition consisting essentially of 1,1,3,3-tetrachloroprop-1-ene (HCO-1230za) and hydrogen fluoride, wherein: the composition consists essentially of from about 30 to about 65 weight percent hydrogen fluoride and from about 35 to about 70 weight percent HCO-1230za; wherein the composition has a boiling point of about 0° C., at a pressure of from about 12 to 13.3 psia; and wherein the composition is an azeotrope in which the HCO-1230za and the HF behave as one component and do not react with one another. 2. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of from about 30 to about 55 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 3. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of from about 30 to about 50 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 4. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of from about 30 to about 42 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 5. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of from about 42 to about 65 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 6. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of about 42 to about 55 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 7. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of about 42 to about 50 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 8. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of about 50 to about 65 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 9. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of from about 50 to about 55 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 10. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of about 41.7 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 11. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of about 49.8 weight percent hydrogen fluoride. 12. The composition of claim 1 , which consists essentially of about 54.2 weight percent hydrogen fluoride.
