What is claimed is: 1. A solid detergent composition comprising: about 20 to about 40 wt. % sodium carbonate; about 15 to about 40 wt. % sodium hydroxide; about 1 to about 40 wt. % of a surfactant; and at least 0.2 to about 20 wt. % of a branched saturated fatty acid disintegrator or a salt thereof represented by the formula CH 3 (CH 2 ) m (CR 1 R 2 ) n (CH 2 ) o (CR 1 R 2 ) p (CH 2 ) q COOH wherein m, n, o, p and q are each an integer selected from 0-17, n+p is 1 or 2, m+n+o+p+q is between 3 and 18, R 1 and R 2 are independently a hydrogen or alkyl group with at least one being an alkyl group, and the total number of carbon atoms in the disintegrator is between 5 and 20; wherein the solid detergent composition has a dissolution rate when exposed to 4000 mL of aqueous solution at 155° F. of at least 30 g/minute and is free of halogen bleaching agents. 2. The solid detergent composition of claim 1 , comprising between 0.5 wt. % to 5 wt. % of the branched saturated fatty acid. 3. The solid detergent composition of claim 1 , comprising between 5 wt. % to 20 wt. % of the branched saturated fatty acid. 4. The solid detergent composition of claim 1 , wherein the solid detergent composition is in the form of a tablet having a size between about 1 and about 50 grams. 5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the solid is formed by an extrusion process. 6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the solid is formed by a casting process. 7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the solid is formed by a tableting process. 8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the branched saturated fatty acid has from 6 to 12 carbon atoms. 9. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the surfactant comprises one or more cationic, anionic, nonionic, amphoteric or zwitterionic surfactants. 10. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the surfactant comprises betaine, sodium alkylarylsulfonate, alpha-olefinsulfonate, fatty alcohol sulfate, alcohol ethoxylate, ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymer, or combinations thereof. 11. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises a water conditioning agent. 12. The composition of claim 11 , wherein the water conditioning agent comprises ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), n-hydroxyethyl-ethylenediaminetriacetic acid (HEDTA), or a mixture thereof. 13. The composition of claim 11 , wherein the water conditioning agent is present at about 1 to about 50 wt. %. 14. The composition of claim 11 , wherein the water conditioning agent is present at about 3 to about 35 wt. %. 15. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated for use in manual cleaning. 16. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated for use as a pot and pan cleaner. 17. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated for use in cleaning medical or dental instruments. 18. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated for use in laundry. 19. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the fatty acid disintegrator is selected from the group consisting of isopentanoic acid, neopentanoic acid, isohexanoic acid, neohexanoic acid, isoheptanoic acid, neoheptanoic acid, isooctanoic acid, neooctanoic acid, isononanoic acid, neononanoic acid, isodecanoic acid, neodecanoic acid, and salts and mixtures thereof. 20. The composition of claim 1 , wherein o, p, and q are each zero. 21. The composition of claim 1 , wherein m is 3.
